Ask yourself, how can (insert theme) help a character grow? What type of character would grow most from this theme? What is her background? What are her likes and dislikes? What are her hangups? Can this theme help her overcome these hangups?

Do your character sketches so you know them. Really understand your supporting characters as well, so their actions and dialogue are always “in character.”
Write a detailed outline. What is the location? What will you describe in the setting? Describe the setting in such a way as to support the emotions and actions of the characters. What is the timeline? Who is in each scene? What will they do?

Writing good erotica is about more than the sex. Focus should be on the characters’ thoughts and emotions as the action happens. Think of it as a rollercoaster ride. The thoughts and emotions and character’s reactions are the coaster and the actions are the rails, with huge drops and turns and loops, which bring the coaster to its final destination. The character should be different in some way than he/she was in the beginning.
